Roger Federer has announced that he and his wife Mirka have welcomed twin girls. The girls who were born in Switzerland are named Charlene Riva and Myla Rose. While the pregnancy was announced in March and the couple married in April, they did not reveal the news that they were expecting twins. For most of the sports world the announcement of TWO babies and not one comes as a complete surprise.

The babies were born on Thursday, July 23 and the new parents are thrilled. Roger Federer could not wait to announce it on his website and Facebook page. One fan on his site commented, “Wait 15 to 20 years. The Williams sisters will look like a joke compared to the Federer sisters.” Is that true? What do you think?

Federer met Mirka, who was born Miroslava Vavrinec in Slovakia, in 2000 when they were competing for Switzerland in the Sydney Olympics. Mirka emigrated with her family to Switzerland as a child which explains why the baby girls were born there. Roger Federer will return to tennis on August 10 in Montreal after a brief hiatus where he gets to know his knew daughters.

Three-time Grand Slam tennis champion Lindsay Davenport and her husband Jonathan Leach welcomed their baby girl into the world on Saturday, June 27 at 11:04 a.m. in Newport Beach, California, according to Lindsay’s agent.

The agent reported: “Lindsay and Lauren are doing great, and Jonny and the other man of the family, Jagger, Lauren’s brother, are ecstatic.”

The tennis pro announced that she was expecting in December, and later shared that they were expecting a baby girl. At the time she joked that she hoped her daughter would be a tomboy “because otherwise I don’t know how I’m going to cope.”

We’re sure no matter what little Lauren Andrus decides to be, Mom will learn to adjust!

New baby boy Maxwell Edward Armstrong was spotted being toted home from the hospital by dad Lance Armstrong on Saturday. The family - including mom Anna Hansen left the hospital in Aspen, Colorado on Saturday moring to bring their baby boy home for the first time.

Meanwhile, Max has kept his fans on Twitter informed. Impressively, at just four days old, he wrote: “Finally got to go home. All my grandparents are here too. I feel like a hot potato.” He also wrote, “just got my diaper changed. Lookin’ [forward] to doing this myself!”

It’s good to know that baby Max has a sense of humor - do you think he gets that from Mom or Dad?

Just a bit early for Father’s Day, Tour de France winning cyclist Lance Armstrong received a very special gift - a new baby boy! Max Armstrong was born tonight and weighed in at 7 lbs., 5 oz. and is 20 inches long. Mom is Lance’s girlfriend Anna Hansen.

Quite tenacious at less than a day old, baby Armstrong announced his arrival in the world via Twitter. The message read: “Wassup world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is health and so am I.”

Max is Lance and Anna’s first child together, but this isn’t Lance’s first rodeo. The 37-year-old is also dad to 9-1/2 year old son Luke, and twin 7-1/2 year old girls Isabelle and Grace, who are his children with ex-wife Kristin Armstrong.

Gold medal-winning beach-volleyball player Kerri Walsh can now add a new accomplishment to her resume - that of new mom! Kerri and her husband, Casey Jennings, an AVP pro-volleyball player, welcomed their baby boy at 8:57 p.m. on Friday May 22 in Los Angeles. The named their new son Joseph Michael Jennings. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces.

Kerri revealed to PEOPLE: “We could not be more thrilled to welcome Joseph into the world. It’s the most incredible feeling. We are already so in love with him and it’s such an amazing, special moment for our family.”

We hope the new parents are doing well, along with baby Joseph.
