Jillian Michaels on weight gain after babies and defining her family
In an interview in REDBOOK‘s upcoming October issue, fitness guru and new mom of two Jillian Michaels (who graces the mag’s cover) talks about gaining weight after welcoming her kids and how she and partner Heidi Rhoades decided to define their relationship after welcoming kids Lukensia, 2, (via adoption) and son Phoenix, 4 months.
She revealed that she has gained weight since she and Heidi welcomed their kids. She said, “I definitely did. I went to interview Suze Orman for The Insider, and her wife said, ‘You’re chubby!” And Suze said, ‘You look like a mommy now.’ I look at my body and I go: ‘five pounds heavier.’ But part of me really likes it.”

She also revealed how life has changed for her since becoming a mother, saying, “You can’t have it all, and you have to make some tough decisions. I used to think you could, but you can’t. I didn’t understand that something has to give. Now friends will go to Vegas for the weekend and we’re like, ‘Take pictures.’ When Lu looks at me and goes, “Mama, I love you!” I go, ‘Fft. Who needs Vegas?’”

Though Jillian wants to keep her kids safe, she is trying not to be overprotective. She said, “Kids are accident-prone; they’re going to tumble. As long as I know she’s not going to die or get badly hurt, it’s okay. We’d rather her be adventurous, and fall and get back up, than helicopter around her and make her feel fragile.”

Jillian has also kept mum about her personal life but when she and Heidi decided to have kids, they decided to share their situation with the public. Jillian explained, “When we were having kids, I thought, How am I supposed to hide a newborn? So we thought, Let’s talk about it. It wasn’t so much about coming out. It was more about, okay, this is my family.”

i wasn’t all that surprised. jillian does sorta have man facial features. i don’t judge gays, i’ll leave that up to God Almighty. He’ll judge us all, and determine our punishment

Until Jillian goes through nine months of pregnancy with her own body, I don’t want to read about her discussing baby weight loss. She annoys me.
