A judge has stripped 82-year-old Katherine Jackson of her guardian duties and given custody of Michael Jackson’s three children to the late singer’s nephew, TJ (Tito Joe) Jackson.

Michael’s daughter Paris, 14, was frantic to find Katherine, her grandmother, when she inexplicably disappeared and cut off communication with her and her brothers, Prince, 15, and Blanket, 10. She was found in Arizona with her eldest daughter Rebbie (pictured with Katherine).

At an emergency custody hearing, it was determined that Michael’s kids will now live with their 34-year-old cousin (the son of Michael’s brother Tito). TJ told the court that he was worried about Katherine after speaking with her on the phone. “She wasn’t sharp,” he explained with much emotion. “The pauses, choice of vocabulary… she has not used certain phrases like that before.”

TJ suspected that his grandmother may have been talking to him in code, to avoid being overheard by her Rebbie who, along with siblings Jermaine, Randy and Janet, has been after Katherine to contest Michael’s will, which left them nothing.

Katherine’s attorney told the court that she believes her client was held in Arizona against her will. The judge agreed, saying he felt that Katherine was prevented from being the guardian of her grandchildren by an “intentional act from third parties.”

The judge ruled that the three children are not to be removed from California without a court order and the permission of Diana Ross (the guardian successor to Katherine upon her death) and Prince and Paris’ biological mother Debbie Rowe.

TJ hopes to become the children’s permanent guardian, but Katherine intends to file a motion to reinstate herself as legal guardian.
