Katie Holmes, Scientology and “Rosemary’s Baby”
Everyone, including Tom Cruise, was blindsided by Katie Holme‘s divorce filing. Sources close to the actress say that Katie’s bold move took a lot of courage and at least one year of planning.
Not only did Katie file for divorce, she also moved for sole legal custody of 6-year-old Suri. Katie, 33, and Tom, 49, have been married for five years, but some say that the unhappy wife has spent much of that time trying to break free of her confining situation.
“Every move she made and everything she did was controlled . . . She felt like she was in Rosemary’s Baby,” an insider told Us Weekly, referring to the classic 1968 horror film, in which an aspiring young actress (Mia Farrow) unwittingly bears a child for her husband’s Satanic cult.

Sources say that the unexpected divorce filing shocked not just fans but her “furious” husband as well. “This is about protecting her daughter,” the insider added. “She wants to be in charge of how Suri is being raised and didn’t want her to have an exclusively Scientology education.”
Said another source, “She felt she had to get out to save her daughter.”
