She begged a judge to send her to prison, but Teen Mom star Amber Portwood will still do whatever it takes to maintain a relationship with her daughter.
The troubled MTV reality star, who attempted suicide last summer, was ordered by the court to attend rehab, but Amber, 22, was unable to successfully complete the program. On June 5, she was sentenced to a five-year prison term. This final season of Teen Mom will document the suicide attempt and rehab stint.
On the show’s last episode, Amber receives a visit from her ex-fiance, Gary Shirley, and their daughter Leah, 3. Gary and Leah traveled from their home in Indiana to Amber’s California prison. Unfortunately, a court order bans Gary from being in the same room with Amber and Leah at the same time. (Amber was charged after assaulting Gary in front of their then 2-year-old daughter.) “I brought Leah with me but I guess we can’t be together,” Gary tells Amber on the show.
Despite her situation, Amber has every intention of maintaining a positive relationship with Gary and Leah. “I’m not just going to sit [in prison],” she said.
Teen Mom airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. (EST) on MTV.
Do you think Amber and Gary will ever reconcile?
