It didn’t take long for Jillian Michaels to discover what moms everywhere already know: Parenting is hard work! In a new interview with PEOPLE, the new mom of two “apologizes” to moms for “not getting it.”
In a new interview with People, Jillian, who welcomed adopted 2-year-old daughter Lukensia and baby boy Phoenix (with partner Heidi) at the beginning of May, said being a mom is much harder than she thought. Of what she used to preach to mothers about workout out, “”Telling moms, ‘You need to put yourself first’? It’s impossible to put yourself first when you’re a Mom…Parenting is not for sissies. You have to sacrifice and grow up.”

Jillian spent years trying to adopt daughter Lukensia from Haiti, and she finally came home the very week Jillian’s partner Heidi Rhoades gave birth to their son, Phoenix, (May 3).
