Charlize Theron “didn’t wish” to be a single mom
Though Charlize Theron never really wanted to get married, she always knew she wanted to adopt.
In a new interview with Australia’s Madison magazine, Charlize, who adopted son Jackson earlier this year, revealed that her dreams of adopting a baby began nearly 30 years ago.

She said, “My mother found [a letter I wrote]. It said, ‘Would you please take me to orphanage, so that I can go and adopt a baby?’ I always knew I would adopt. Always.”
Charlize added of becoming a single mom, “You know, I don’t think any mother aims to be a single mom. I didn’t wish for that, but it happened.”

But she’s perfectly happy raising her son own her own, and says that marriage isn’t really her thing anyway. She revealed that getting married “has never been that important to me. I don’t know why exactly. Some might say it’s because my parents didn’t have a good marriage, but I don’t think so. I treat my relationships like marriages. The ceremony isn’t that important to me.”
