One of Hollywood’s most-anticipated babies has finally arrived! Jessica Simpson gave birth to a baby girl this morning in L.A., confirms Us Weekly. She is the first child for Jessica and fiance Eric Johnson.
“Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby Maxwell Drew Johnson 9 lbs. 13 oz. 21 3/4,” Jessica wrote on her websiteTuesday. “We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!”
One source said that Maxwell’s middle name pays tribute to maternal grandmother, Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew. “Mother and baby are doing just fine,” the source added.
Jessica, 31, and Eric, 32, got engaged in November 2010, after dating for just six months. The new parents are in no hurry to get married — they were more focused on Maxwell’s arrival. In March, Jessica told Jimmy Kimmel that Eric “feels like my husband already.”
Jessica officially announced her pregnancy last Halloween via Twitter. Dressed in a mummy costume, she tweeted, “It’s true! I am going to be a mummy!” The world has watched and waited with Jessica and Eric for the bundle of joy to make her debut.
“Eric and I love each other so much, and knowing that I love this baby inside of me is so amazing–I love it so much and I haven’t even met them yet,” gushed the mom-to-be. “I can’t imagine how much love we’ll have for it once it finally comes!”
