Alec, 54, has been dating 28-year-old yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas for less than a year [they made their first public appearance together last May], but that didn’t stop the most famous of the Baldwin brothers from wanting to make it permanent with her.

“Yes, it’s true!” Baldwin’s rep told Us Weekly. “Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we’re all excited for the newly engaged couple. Alec’s birthday is tomorrow [April 3]. Great way to celebrate!”

Sure, he may have want to tie the knot “just because,” but we’re thinking there’s more to it. Especially since he vowed to remain single following his nasty divorce from Kim Bassinger.
Our first guess is that Alec is following the current Hollywood life path: have a baby together then consider a committed relationship, which would mean that Hilaria is pregnant.
Or… the actor may want to be viewed as a family man when he runs for mayor of New York City. The big talker says he’s up to the task and has made his potential intentions known at various high-profile events in NYC.
