The Twilight Saga actor, 38, and Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 39, made the announcement in a statement reported by Us Weekly.
“While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children. We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time.” The “beautiful daughters” are Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5.
A source close to the couple told Scallywag & Vagabond that Peter was having a “short, torrid affair” with a 20-something Vancouver woman he met while filming the last of the Twilight films.
“Peter had been seeing another woman for quite some time. They tried to make it work for the sake of their children and Jennie played housewife for as long as she could but finally had enough.”
Both Jennie and Peter were quick to deny the rumors that infidelity led to the demise of their marriage. They told People in an exclusive statement: “There are rumors out there which are completely untrue and hurtful to our family. We just want to make it very clear — there are no third parties involved.”
This was the first marriage for Peter and and the second for Jennie, who was married to Daniel Clark from 1994 to 1996.
