Ben Affleck says his daughters have inspired him to “serve as an example”
Celebrity dad Ben Affleck, who is expecting his third child with Jennifer Garner this spring, recently said that his two daughters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3, have inspired him to think globally when it comes to helping others.
Of founding the Eastern Congo Initiative in 2010 and making multiple trips to the area, Ben told PEOPLE, “I got to a point in my life where I felt like I had been very fortunate. And I wanted to do something more with my life than just make movies and try to make money. I wanted to do something that was important to me in other ways and would serve as an example to my kids.”

He added, “The people there are working as hard as they can to make their lives better. And that’s inspiring.”
Ben said he helps his daughters understand by pointing out Africa on the map before he leaves on a trip there: “I tell them it’s important to be involved in the world in way that help others and not just yourself.”
