Singer Kelis calls motherhood “the most amazing thing in the world”
Though Kelis‘ son Knight is already almost two years old, the profound effect his birth has had on her life has not yet begun to wear off.
In a new interview with Attitude magazine, the 31-year-old singer and single mom of one said, “I always wanted to be a mother because that’s what women do, but not because I really understood what it meant. Now I understand it’s the most amazing thing in the world.”
Kelis split from Knight’s dad Nas before the baby boy was born. But she’s not complaining about being a single mom. She said, “There’s nothing burdensome about it, it’s just the most amazing privilege… It’s a real gift from God and it’s amazing.”
She continued to gush that she could never have imagined this kind of love before experiencing it first hand. She said, “I don’t think anyone ever explained it to me that way. You can’t really prepare for it. No one can tell you how intense the love is, and how rewarding it is.”
