Sparrow’s one-year birthday bash

Though Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s son Sparrow won’t officially turn one until this Thursday (September 9), the family already celebrated his milestone birthday over the weekend!
According to PEOPLE, Nicole and Joel celebrated with a party in their backyard with guests including (uncle) Benji Madden, along with Ellen Pompeo and her daughter Stella Luna, who will also turn one this month.

According to a source the party included balloons and cake, but was understated: “Nicole was keeping the party simple to not overwhelm Sparrow. Everyone seemed to have a great time.”
