They noted the contrast between this name and the name of their firstborn, Wilder, and sister Kate Hudson’s son Ryder. “Bodhi is soft and spiritual.” Sanskrit for “enlightenment or “awakening,” the name is associated with Buddhism.
They added: “In using his mother’s maiden name for his son’s middle, Oliver Hudson became part of a growing celeb trend of incorporating family history into offsprings’ names — though most parents use the mother’s, rather than the grandmother’s, maiden name.”
