Mariska Hargitay talks about motherhood
Featured on the cover of the August issue of Redbook magazine, Mariska Hargitaty shares in an interview her thoughts on being a mom and how having a child has changed her world.
Mom to August Miklos Freidrich, 3, Mariska admitted that becoming a parent helped her deal with her own painful childhood (her mom Jayne Mansfield was killed in a car accident when Mariska was just a toddler).
“Becoming a parent erased many of my negative childhood feelings and filled them with something new,” she said in the interview.
And after learning she had a collapsed lung, she realized that ,”Having a child changes everything. All of a sudden you have so much to lose, so much to live for. Sometimes things in life happen that allow us to understand our priorities very clearly. Ultimately you can see those as gifts.”

Mariska Hargitay has always been one of my favourite actress. I didn’t realize that she had one collapsed lung.
