Julianne Moore finds her happy medium

Like many of other other busy working moms we talked about this week, Julianne Moore joins the ranks of those working hard to balance spending time with their kids and maintaining their careers.

Julianne, mother to son Cal, 11, and daughter Liv Helen, 6-and-a-half, says  she tries her best to create a stable environment for her kids. She tries to schedule her movie roles during the summer months and tries to have them be within the New York City area, if possible.

She says, “Every woman I know strives for flexibility, and I fortunately have a tremendous amount of it.” Lucky her! Balancing a great career and two kids, not to mention her husband, Bart, of who she says does an equal job of parenting!

Since my son was born, I’ve played a lot of demanding parts, and you get to a certain point where you just need a break. I want to be a mum – not a mum who’s at work all the time.”

Kate, mom to 8-year-old Mia Honey and 5-year-old Joe Alfie, runs a tight ship while she’s at home.

She says, “We have a structure, of course, or there’d be chaos… kids need to sleep.” Mia and Joe to to bed at 7:30 p.m. on the dot. “If they don’t, they don’t function properly and don’t get the most out of life,” shesays. “My kids know the difference between right and wrong – they know jumping on the bed isn’t allowed, for instance.”

Alison Sweeney’s real life hospital moment

Alison Sweeney, who hosts  The Bigger Loser is also known as Sami, to those loyal Days of Our Lives watchers. As Sami, she spent much time in a hospital, so when it came time for her to deliver daughter Megan Hope two weeks ago, Alison felt quite at home in a hospital bed.

Alison joked recently: “While we were waiting for Megan’s arrival, Dave, my best friend Carrie and I were talking about work stuff quietly and I had the instinct to warn them to watch what they say because the ‘boom is on. ’They both couldn’t stop cracking up that I’m so comfortable in a hospital bed that I thought I was on the Days stage.”

The actress also told Soap Opera Digest the meaning behind her new daughter’s name: We decided on Megan Hope because Dave and I both loved the name Megan, and while the name Hope has such significant meaning at Days and in daytime, we chose the name to honor my mom and my grandmother.”
