Miley Cyrus speaks out on Jamie Lynn Spears
Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus tells Usmagazine.com at the Official Grammy Talent Gift Lounge in L.A. that she is proud of the way her friend Jamie Lynn Spears is handling her pregnancy.
“We’ve actually been talking. She’s now really excited, so I’m proud of her,” Cyrus, 15, reports.
Spears, the 16-year-old star of Zoey 101, surprised her fans when she announced she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby. The baby is due in June.
“I think she’s done the best she can,” Cyrus says.

Because Miley Cyrus is a role model herself, do you think she should have made more of a statement about teen pregnancy instead of simply voicing her support for Jamie Lynn?

I hope Miley remains the positive role model rather than following in the footsteps of her contemporaries. As for her voicing her support for Jamie Lynn rather than making a statement about teen pregnancy, I hope that as she matures she will be able to make her statement by staying out of that predicament herself. Lead by example, Miley!

I think teens are going to get pregnant. Of course we would like to see that number decline, but at least they have a role model who is taking responsibility for her pregnancy!

i think that her showing support was the right thing to do, just because shes a role model(probably the biggest one out there)(thats all you see is hannah montana stuff)doesnt mean she needs to change her opinion of how she feels.

I’m with Samantha on this one.
While she may be a role model for teens and tweens alike, Miley Cyrus is in no way obligated to speak out for or against teen pregnancy if she has no desire to do so. Jamie Lynn Spears is a personal friend of Cyrus, and friendship comes before role model status.
