An important message to parents

The scary statistics don’t lie–unintentional choking and suffocation are the leading cause of all injury deaths for infants under the age of one.

Because choking often happens in the home, the American Heart Association has developed the Infant CPR Anytime Personal Learning Program. The kit, which can be purchased for $34.95, includes a CPR manikin, a 22-minute skills training DVD and 2 fold-out Quick Reference Skills Reminders.

As the parent of two young children, I know how hard it can be line up babysitters and find the time to take the CPR class, so I can’t think of a better way to learn these lifesaving skills. The CPR Anytime Personal Learning Program would also make a great shower gift.

Click here to order the CPR Anytime kit or go to shopcpranytime.org.

Baby girl for Whale Rider star Keisha Castle-Hughes

keisha_castle180.jpgWhale Rider actress Keisha Castle-Hughes and her boyfriend welcomed their first child on Wednesday, reports People.

Felicity-Amore was born at 6:35 p.m. weighing 7 lb., 6 oz. The couple’s rep describes the baby girl as “beautiful.”

Keisha, 17, has been dating actor Bradley Hull, 20, for three years. The Australian native has taken some heat (at least in the States) for having a child at such a young age.

At age 13, Keisha became the youngest Best Actress Oscar Nominee for her role in Whale Rider. Perhaps she is just mature beyond her years?

The View host Elisabeth Hasselbeck pregnant

view.jpgAfter a little prompting by Rosie O’Donnell, The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck made a big announcement today that she is pregnant.

“I’m totally three months pregnant,” Hasselbeck said as confetti fell from the studio ceiling. This will be the second child for the former Survivor contestant and her husband, New York Giants quarterback Tim Hasselbeck. Grace Elisabeth just turned 2 this month.

Hasselbeck told Rosie, who will be leaving the show at the end of the season: “I figured that we’re going to be lonely without you. So, Tim and I thought we should get busy and maybe make a little co-host.”

The baby is due in November which, as Barbara Walters pointed out, is also the same month as sweeps. There is nothing like a baby to help boost the ratings a bit!

The couple are not finding out the sex of their baby, but I am thinking they will have another girl.

Daddy material Jake Gyllenhaal

jake1.jpgJake Gyllenhaal sure looks comfortable pushing his niece, Ramona, around New York City. 6-month-old Ramona is the daughter of Jake’s sister, Maggie, and actor Peter Sarsgaard.

Jake is rumored to be dating Reese Witherspoon, who has 2 children with ex-hubby Ryan Phillippe. I may be jumping ahead of myself a little, but what do you think–is Jake step dad material?

Travis Barker & daughter Alabama

barker.jpgUS Weekly shot a cute picture of rocker Travis Barker getting his caffeine fix at a California Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf with his daughter Alabama Luella.

Alabama is the daughter of Barker and his off-again-on-again wife Shanna Moakler. They also have a son, 3-year-old Landon.

Do you think the former Blink-182 drummer has any nursery rhymes tattooed on his arms?
