Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard expecting (and engaged)
One very talented — and very offbeat — Hollywood couple are expecting a baby together, People reports. Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard, who have been together for several years are expecting their first child together, and will also be getting married soon. (Clearly, they were meant to be together. Really, two Americans with a double “a” in their last names?)
But such a leap into holy matrimony isn’t necessarily what one would expect of these two. Both are well known for taking on difficult and/or deviant roles — such as Maggie’s turn in Secretary, or Peter in Boys Don’t Cry and Kinsey. In any case, we’re sure they will apply the same creative and unconventional approach to parenthood. (We can’t wait to find out what they name the kid.)
Unless they are also planning a move (where will they find the time?) the new family is going to be very, very cozy. Peter recently told the New York Daily News about their apartment in NYC’s West Village: “Our place is 1400 square feet, about 1200 of which is her closet.”
No due date has been announced yet, so we’re going to guess September. And, yes — this also means that Jake Gyllenhaal (who co-starred in Jarhead with the dad-to-be) is now going to be known as Uncle Jake. Awww.
